The causing of upgrading

  Compassionately blessed by the Great Compassion Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva; Compassionately blessed by all the Buddha’s and Bodhisattva’s, compassionately blessed by all the great masters, compassionately accomplished by all the learned Buddhists, the “3 Hundred Million Holy Name Chanting praying for pacific by internet Buddhists” activity received more than 3 thousand millions registrations for all kinds of Holy Names by Jun.13,2002, only 5 months since it is first proposed on Jan.5,2002. It’s 10 times as expected.

However, most attendees are those who connected to the internet. A lot of Buddhists that can not connected to the internet still didn’t hear about the news, especially many devoted aged householders. They can not enter their names even though they hear the news. The shortage of the internet makes more vast Buddhists can not be benefited. It becomes a big regret of this activity.

On Jun.6,2002, exactly 5 months since the beginning of the activity, eagerly invited by me,  Master Rongci from the CiEn Temple of Jiumen, Liaoning Province promise to take responsibility of the registration of the Buddhists who can not connected to the Internet. Thus, faithful Buddhists from all over can easily enter their names by mailing to Master Rongci of CiEn Temple.

Seize this opportunity, Buddhist Mingyue again propose Buddhist all over, chanting 100 billion Holy Names and Mantras together in 10 years, and return the merit to the world pacific and all the sentient beings away from suffer and attaining joy. As long as the world is not peace, we will not stop chanting and retuning the merit. As long as one sentient being is not released, we will not give up and abandon him. So from Jun.15,2002, the “3 Hundred Million Holy Name Chanting praying for pacific by internet Buddhists” is renamed as “ 100 billion Holy Name Chanting praying for the Merit of all the Sentient Beings.”

The content is still merely the Holy Names and Mantras of Amita^bha Buddha / Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva / Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva. Other Holy Names and Mantras are also welcome. For those who like to chant the Sutras, registration for chanting  Mahayana Sutras, such as the < Diamond Sutra >, the < Amitabha Sutra >, the < Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva’s Vows Sutra > etc., is also welcome.

In every lunar calendar 7.15, the Buddha’s Joy Day of next ten years , we will invite all the tutor Masters of this activity and other related Bhadantas, to hold Returning Merit Ceremony in everywhere of the world, to return the merits of that year’s chanting to world pacific and sentient beings away from suffer and gaining joy.

From now on, let us Buddhists chanting and practicing with joyous effort. Wish the world forever peaceful, wish all the sentient beings in all worlds away from suffering ,getting happiness, all reborn to the Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, all fulfill the Ultimate Bodhi finally!

Origination

In the <Eight Great Man’s Awakening Sutra> , Buddha said : ‘The first awakening, awaken to the impermanence of the world; awaken to the frailty and danger of the realm…’Truly this saying!

    Unpeaceful 2001 has passed by. Looking around the world, the international situation is no way to be optimism. Isreal vs. Palestine and Indian vs. Pakistan like two flasks that will immediately set on fire. Thinking of this, one can not help deep sympathizing for the suffering of all sentient beings. The great kulapati of Song Dynasty ,Fan Zhongyan has a famous saying: ’Let me be worried before all the world is worried; let me be happy after all the world is happy.’ As a buddhist, we certainly should be like this. Now Kulapati Mingyue (meaning “the bright moon”), grows great compassion because of the sentient beings, and grows great buddhitrita from compassion. He proposed all the Buddhists, from now on until lunar calendar 7.15, the Buddha’s Joy Day,(2002/8/23),to chant the holy names of Amitabha Buddha / Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva / Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva together for totally 3 hundred million times, then return the merit to the pacific of the world, the prosperity of the countries and the joy of the people. Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is acturally the deputy of the Buddha in this no-Buddha world; Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva ,who has the most earnest compassion, always follow the sound of sorrow and save beings out of misery; Amitabha Buddha is essence of all Buddha’s,the extreme holiness of light, and the king of all Buddha’s.  His forty-eight Great Desires are the powerful transcendent conditions for those miserable sentient beings to get released within one life. These three Buddha and Bodhisattvas have deeply connection with our Saha Land sentient beings. Our Original Teacher-- Shakyamuni Buddha kept on praising them and advise us to abandon this life and devote ourselves to West Pure Land. As a result this proposal was approved and praised by apparent Sect and Varjayana Bhadantas such as Druwang Konchok Norbu Rinpoche and Master Randeng. They will return the merits by themselves when this activity is complete success. Buddha’s and Bodisattvas must too, smile and be joyful and praise in the Forever Peace Bright Land , and bless in secret and apparent way.

Every thing exist depend on there causes. This activity will greatly benefit all sentient beings. However, it’s impossible to be fulfilled by a few peoples. So we now earnestly hope all Masters, all Buddhists, whoever hear about this, will all grow bodhicitta and do favors to this super activity, and also ask their masters/relatives/friend to be joy and enter their names. According to the Sutra’s and Explanations, especially that written in Abhidharmako sa-bhasya , if three people committed murder together, these three people will all get the equal black karma of murder; if three people build a Stupa together, every one will get the merit of building a Stupa. A drop of water is as broad as the sea when it merges into the sea. Every one who attend this 3 Hundred Million Holy Name Chanting , will all get the super merit of chanting several hundred million Holy Names. Such huge merit would cost one many lives if he or she depends only on his or her owner power! Furthermore, this activity will involve vast sentient beings, so through it we can make deep connections with them. It will be a deep going cause for constructing the Pure Lands. 

   We must have the heart of Buddha when chanting Holy Names. We must do what the Buddha does and say what the Buddha says. Master Yinguang taught us:” Every one chanting the Holy Names, must take their own duty in the family. Be a kind father, a faithful son, a friendly elder brother, a respectful younger brother, a temperate husband, an obedient wife, a humanity master, a faithful servant. Again one must calm down the angers, reduce the desires, stop evils and maintain honesty, never do any bad deeds and do all the good deeds. The essence of reducing evil and practicing good is carefully examine when a thought comes out, then strengthen and enlarge the good ones , cast aside the bad ones. One must always be alert and never be lazy, then he will become a good person. Only a good person chanting the Holy Names can attain the true benefit of chanting. It is like one must make the base firm first, then he can build high mansions as his wish. “ We hope all the attendees pay attention to this, to bring more peace to the world and more prosperity to all countries.
